Awareness into action

Last week, we proudly took part in Mental Health Awareness Week, with this year’s theme centred on turning awareness into action. At The Penny Group, we brought this message to life by creating meaningful opportunities for connection and positive conversations around mental health and wellbeing across the company. Throughout the week, colleagues came together through a range of wellbeing initiatives designed to encourage support, connection, and most importantly action.

Raising £594 for CALM

Alongside the week’s activities, we were delighted to raise £594 for our chosen charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), helping support their mission to stand against suicide and provide life-saving mental health support to those who need it most.

A week focused on wellbeing and connection

Everyday we hosted different events across the company, bringing colleagues together to discuss important topics and take part in activities outside of the usual office setting.

Monday – “What’s on Your Mind?” Mental Health Awareness Week special

We started the week with a dedicated wellbeing-focused session held at an external venue for a handful of colleagues. The session encouraged honest discussions, reinforced the importance of checking in with ourselves and each other, and helped create a supportive environment where everyone felt heard and valued.

Tuesday – Morning Recharge: Coffee & Connect

On Tuesday morning, a small group of colleagues stepped away from their desks for a morning recharge. With a quick coffee stop along the way, we enjoyed a refreshing walk by the Thames, connecting outside of the usual work setting.

Wednesday – External speaker session with Stretching the City

Midweek, we welcomed a specialist wellbeing expert from Stretching the City who presented a session called The Mental Fitness Hour: Building a Stronger Mental Mindset.

The session provided practical guidance on building resilience, managing pressure, and developing healthier mental habits both inside and outside the workplace. Colleagues gained valuable insight into developing a positive mindset and left with practical strategies they can apply in their day-to-day lives.

Thursday Morning – Health is Wealth wellbeing morning

Thursday morning featured a special event aligned with our Client Wellbeing Project, with this year’s focus centred on supporting both colleague and client wellbeing. The uplifting session created a positive and energising environment, highlighting the importance of wellbeing, connection, and collaboration across the company.

Thursday Afternoon – TPG Journeys of Resilience: Careers, challenges and growth

Later in the day, colleagues shared inspiring personal stories around resilience, career development, and overcoming challenges. The session sparked meaningful conversations and highlighted the value of learning through experience, supporting one another, and embracing growth through difficult moments.

Friday – Reformer Pilates

We rounded off a fantastic week of wellness activities for Mental Health Awareness Week with two Reformer Pilates sessions hosted at a local studio in Central London, complemented by a healthy lunch for the team. The sessions gave colleagues the opportunity to reset, recharge, and prioritise both physical and mental wellbeing, ending the week feeling energised and refreshed.

Mental Health Awareness Week reminded us of the importance of creating supportive environments where people feel empowered to prioritise wellbeing, speak openly, and support one another.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated, shared their experiences, and contributed to making the week such a success.
