Making a Difference Together
We are pleased to announce that The Felix Project, a London charity fighting hunger and food waste, has been awarded £15,000 from the Openwork Foundation.
The Felix Project was selected by the Penny Group, and put forward for The Openwork Foundation grant, as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
“We were very pleased to hear that The Felix Project was awarded The Openwork Foundation grant.” Sulina Odwong, Marketing and Communications Manager at the Penny Group. “We have worked closely with The Felix Project over the last year and have witnessed first-hand the amazing work they do for vulnerable people in local communities. We believe in the importance of corporate social responsibility, and we are proud to support The Felix Project in their mission to end food hunger.”
The Felix Project, a London based charity, rescues surplus food that would otherwise go to waste, and redistributes it to over 1,000 community organisations across London. This includes organisations working with those facing food poverty, homelessness, refugees, domestic violence victims, and included are over 170 primary schools. In addition, the charity operates Felix’s Kitchen, wherein some of donated surplus food is cooked into delicious, nutritious meals ready for those in need.
Lucy Eaglesome, Senior Corporate Partnership Officer at The Felix Project says “We cannot thank The Penny Group and The Openwork Foundation enough for their generosity in presenting The Felix Project with a £15,000 grant. Felix’s Kitchen has been essential through the cost-of-living crisis as we have seen more and more Londoners limit their energy usage or unable to use their appliances to cook any donated food into meals. This grant of £15,000 will allow Felix’s Kitchen to create, cook and deliver over 12,000 meals across London. That is 12,000 people who do not have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. We cannot thank you enough for this support.”
In 2022 The Openwork Foundation awarded £686,000 in grants, helping over 17,000 vulnerable people in the UK and globally. The Foundation delivers grants, fundraising and volunteer programmes, designed to engage businesses, advisers and colleagues within The Openwork Partnership network.
Lisa Willingham, Openwork Foundation Executive stated “The Openwork Foundation team are delighted that the Penny Group is such an advocate of our mission to support those in need and in our local communities. We are grateful to them for nominating charities for grants and their commitment to encouraging team members to volunteer their time to support local charities. Thank you! Together, we really can all make a difference!”
At the Penny Group, we are committed to giving back to the community and supporting causes that align with our values. We believe that by working together, we can make a positive difference in the world.
